CPD

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is an ongoing process whereby individuals keep abreast of their profession in an environment of rapid technological and occupational change. It involves maintaining, improving and extending knowledge and skills and also developing personal qualities that enhance the ability to perform professional and technical responsibilities.

CPD involves identifying development needs and how best to achieve them. Socitm is developing a framework to assist members in identifying their CPD needs and recording and evaluating outcomes.

Socitm encourages all members to commit to ongoing professional development. The Society offers a range of activities and initiatives to help members with their own professional development and that of colleagues for whom they are responsible.

Our jobs pages, accessible from the link opposite, allow members and others to advertise and view current public sector vacancies in the fields of ICT and e-government management.

CPD activities include publications and events such as regional meetings, workshops, seminars and conferences.

Socitm courses can be accessed from our Socitm Learning website. Development initiatives include:

The Graham Williamson Challenge - a travel award to enable a young person starting out in ICT to undertake a short (up to a month) period of work experience abroad in order to broaden their understanding and knowledge of ICT in a wider public sector context.

Socitm's Mentoring scheme - a source of help and guidance to those new to ICT Senior Management as well as more experienced ICT managers looking for occasional support and advice.
